Get the Hell Out of Here!!

My Indian Blood was put to a critical Stage & was subjected to a very High Fluctuation on temperature! We usually have good dining conversations at home. But strangely today, there was this conversation of 'buying' US Citizenship. With helluva "US" fanatics, there was this craze to try to buy an American Citizenship after an MBBS! Even worse, I regretfully have to admit that I do know an Uncle who is no more an Indian, & is already an American. Having settled there for nearly a quarter of a Century, he was celebrating his Citizenship. Unfortunately, that was a time when I put forth a few questions: 'Aren't you missing anything from India? Don't you feel you have a duty to give something back to the nation that grew you up?You don't even want to come back to show the Land, the love it bestowed on you?'

I believe I got one hell of a reply that broke my heart! His reason behind all the non-missing part was because India had the worst "Traffic", "poverty", highest "Pollution",least "Opportunity" & all the lame words in the world! Damn! What's wrong with these sort of people? Have they all lost their heart? Perhaps the climate out there have left their hearts as Cold as ever! I, initially, tried to kindle & bring out the Indian within them, but then I settled down with "My country needs true Indians whose love is unconditional to it & I don't have to beg some nagging naive to love something which has so much in it". I regret to have such uncaring non-passionate people in my nation that gave me all the care & love in the world!

If your house has some dirt in it, will you sell your house & buy a new one? You will probably clean the mess that your brother or sister made, right? It is the same sense. May be we DO have a bad traffic, but waiting in that Traffic, with a brother nudging you to change the Radio channel makes it good. May be we DO have a high Pollution, but that has made our immune System better than the rest of the world! May be there are lesser opportunities to you, as you never looked into the one next to you! All these flaws themselves are opportunities in the world! & as for poverty, people are working their way up! It is because that you never cared a DAMN for your brothers that they are still poor.

There is also this other notion of Bribery! I definitely agree that it exists in its worst form! But, the only point is, so many have the Guts to handle it, while you don't! If every single person feels the same & runs off the country giving pointless reasons, then who is going to put an end to the wrong happenings?!! I would rather prefer to stay alive in my nation than getting mugged or being eaten up by some Psycho-path!

At one point of the conversation, there was a talk of leaving the nation to lessen the population, send money back home & thus contributing to your nation! With the deepest emotion of being laughed at for claiming it as a 'Lame Excuse', I feel sorry for my Nation to have to bear with such sort of disloyal cowards!

People leaving the nation due to certain vicious circumstances are excusable. But the ones of this sort....will have to eat their words one day! & I would dare say..That day is not too far!

  1. 1. You need sleep. Lots of it.
    2. Unconditional love? Nice Joke!
    3. Nationalism is a pretty broken concept, that has caused endless suffering and pain throughout the world and needs to die. 500 years from now, we'll be (hopefully) looking back at nationalism in the same way we look back at feudalism and imperialism.
    4. People should be free to live wherever they want to. Want to move in to SF, but can't because your parents were born on the other side of the world? Tough luck! Artificial boundaries ftl, Free Markets ftw!
    5. Remember the talk about Security from the Vagina Warriors woman? You need to listen to it. Again. She spoke about how Americans value 'security' a lot. But maybe she doesn't know us enough. Identifying as 'Indian' doesn't change anything about you at all. Just Indoctrination.
    6. People matter way more than identities. Fix the traffic not because you want India not to have bad traffic, but because you can't bear watching so many people (including yourself) suffer in traffic. Fix pollution not to increase India's ranking in some table, but to save the lives of those who die of lung disease. A life is a life is a life, no matter what its 'identity' is.

tl;dr version - People matter more than identities.

  3. If you are running away from India because you see good opportunities some where else, Good go earn and live in a place where you will be happy.

In case you are running away from my country or don't want to come back here just because you are not able to face the problems here than what will you do if your newly adopted country has problems? What if the troubled American economy collapses leaving you jobless? What if reckless gun holders go on a shooting spree? What if the racists start hunting you?

What will you do than... Run Away from there too... Well but where?

  5. @Hrdhya: Well said! Thanks a lot for saving me some energy.

& as for the Non-Nationales: I think that the country deserves some respect after all it bore for you. It is ofcourse nice to see "Global" planet-oriented mindset, but it is devastating to see non-patriotic "Indians" growing along.

So, you keep telling "Do it! Fix it!", & who should follow that? Some Fairy Godmother?

If every person leaves due to some damn invigorating reasons, then who do you expect to clean up the mess?

So, you have no problem at all? You have NO problem for someone to look down on the place you come from? The place you were born? The place that brought you up? C'mon, show some respect!!

Passion is the most vital force that drives a lot of wonders. The sense of belonging triggers & assures this passion. So, I believe that you don't feel like belonging here, do you?

Its sometimes strange. Only Indians are proud to say that "India is bad & I want to be an American!". Damn... why don't you learn a lesson yourself!?!

Think the Men guarding a nation are fools? The ones who got you a freedom are idiots? The ones striving to make the country proud are some dumb-heads?

Hold on..."I don't have to beg some nagging naive to love something which has so much in it"

  6. Many of the Indians talk ill of India (proudly) in front of foreigners. But they hardly realize that they are not only bringing their own country down, but also their own reputation!
I recently watched my company's training video where an Indian who was taking a seminar explained (again, proudly) that solving some company-specific problem was like 'driving in Indian lanes'! But she gained nothing but embarrassment after the session as people kept questioning her about her own driving.

And yes, you are allowed to live anywhere you want, but not slam the nation however you like.
